Slow Down & Breathe

For the past year or so, my life has been super busy, juggling my photography alongside two other jobs, I think it's fair to say I've been spreading myself a little thin lately. It was my partner who noticed it first, how busy I was and how I'm always tired when I get in at the end of the day. But what made me realise I needed to take a step back, was going on a 10 day silent meditation retreat with Dharma Sukhakāri

I won't go too much into details of the retreat, as you'll be able to 'read all about it' in my next blog post, however being in complete silence and without a phone or any connection to the outside world for 10 days, really highlighted my unnecessary busyness of life at home.

This is the start of slow living.

I've decided to practice living slower in various aspects of my life, one of which is my photography. As much as I love being behind the camera snapping away, I do have a preference of what I'm shooting and I tend to get better results when I am in a more tranquil, less pressured setting. This isn't to say that I'll be dropping all paid photography jobs, as I will still be doing bits and bobs here and there, however my main focus will be to build my brand around Slow Living and hopefully connect with like-minded businesses and people!

Slow living is a lifestyle that emphasizes a slower pace and a greater focus on mindfulness, simplicity, and well-being. It encourages people to take time to appreciate the present moment, connect with nature, and prioritize relationships over material possessions. I will be showing this through my work by focusing on the connection between people and nature, people in general, and also capturing the small, unnoticeable things in life to portray their importance through a still image.

I look forward to sharing my photographs with your in the near future, and hope that you will enjoy them as much as I do shooting them!
